Approach

The Sother family owns two wine estates in the canton of Vaud, Château de Malessert in Perroy and Domaine du Manoir in Valeyres-sous-Rances. In 2020, this young family business needed to create its logo and visual identity.

Challenge: Create a common storytelling unifying the two domains and establish Sother as a brand.

Logotype

Anchor the brand in the cultural heritage of the Bourgogne Transjurane region, drawing inspiration from the Cluny heritage shared by the two estates.

The logo is directly inspired by the Cluny Abbey, which for many centuries was the largest abbey in the world. Indeed, it was the only abbey to have a second transept. The accent on the T refers directly to this. The sother mark is a direct reference to the Cluny heritage.

Brand symbol

As for the brand symbol, it is inspired by the architectural evolution of Cluny Abbey, which, due to its longevity, moved from a Romanesque architectural base to Gothic finishes. The main facade crystallizes this change through its stained-glass rose window.

Engraving

The background illustration is directly inspired by a real medieval engraving depicting the wine-making process. It was tailor-made for Sother, with a nod to the two estates in the background.

Secondary visual identity

Malessert Castle

Alongside the Sother identity, two secondary visual identities were created for the family's two estates.
That of "Château de Malessert" in Féchy, producing exclusively white wine, and that of "Domaine du Manoir", producing mainly red wine.

Website

For the Sother brand, a 5-part multi-site has been set up. This includes: a Corporate section, E-commerce, the Château de Malessert landing page, the Domaine du Manoir landing page and the Sother cooperage site.
